Back to work...

Yeah I've succumbed to the dreaded graft again, well worth it though, been on the go since 9pm boxing day.
Anyway been watchin in on fatwa recently, in me spare time ! when do they ever learn ? :D
Here

Today I've mostly been listening to...
LMFAO

OK I'll leave it at that :D

Boxing Day.

Well Hope everyone has enjoyed this Christmas, now on the eve of Christmas I posted on the blog about some river webcams anyway I've been keeping a watch on the one on the Severn at Atcham.

Christmas eve

Christmas day

It's been steadly rising &....

Boxing day
Looks like it's dropping now, great if it keeps dropping like in the last pic, it'll be a great session or two over the weekend coming, funnily enough I've always had better results fishing floodwater when it's peaked & starting to drop, maybe because I'm more confident of catching.

Blanking doesn't bother me neither, I just enjoy being beside a river somewhere.

Well besides monitoring online rivercams I'm gonna be keeping a close watch on the Trent in the next few days leading upto the weekend.

Now looking on the EA's flood warning site the Trent has got numerous severe flood warnings issued, but Colwick hasn't upto this point in time, so we shall see how things go.

Like I said in the previous blog post here in Nottingham I've got plenty of canals & stillwater fisheries to have a go at if the rivers out of sorts.

I'm more fancying a go on one of the canals which  plenty of bait would have been put at the fish regular through this winter time with the amount of pleasure anglers & weekend matches.

Saying that I'm aware of a few gravel pits that still produce the goods with lure fishing, so either way round I'm spoilt for choice has to where to fish!.

Just gonna like I've said watch what happens with the river over the next few days & go from there, right gonna go get me dinner & after I'm going for a bankside recce.

Monday 24 December 2012

Merry Christmas 2012.

Glad to have finished early this Christmas eve, to start with this morning I went round to a mates for breakfast, I enjoyed it, the weather has been pants today nothing but rain for most of the duration & I've never seen so much traffic pass through town in 1 day except for the usual rush hours, everybody must have been out making those last minute dashes to the shops for the festive duties & the good thing is all the rain has kept all the local tow rags at bay.

I've been have a clear up this afternoon in the garden after the rain had passed for a couple of hours & by christ the temperature is dropping rapid, so the only chances we will see of a white Christmas is a good old ground frost, eh I wonder how many have placed bets in the bookmakers this year on the chance of it snowing on Christmas day ?
Personally you've more chances of winning the lottery than a white Christmas.

Anyway after having my dinner I've been browsing the Internet for a couple of hours & I decided to look in on a site which hosts webcams on rivers in the UK called Farson Digital Watercams Anyway on browsing I looked at a webcam on the River Severn & by christ just look at the amount of extra water on in the picture below.

Well over the banks then, so I'll give any chances I've got at going for a session a miss this week, if things improve into the new year weather wise I'll take some time off to wet a line but saying that I've got plenty of canals & still water fisheries in & around Nottingham at my disposal, so no need to worry about river fishing.

OK have a merry xmas folks & whatever your upto this festive enjoy. :)

Saturday 22 December 2012

Go on then, Who can remember these?

1st up Jona lewie..

& the Flying pickets....

& I don't want to hear that both bands have wound up on the dole in Telford like the lead singer of Dexies midnight runners ! :D

No Armageddon, then !

So much for the Mayans prediction of the end of the world then !
I've read somewhere online an article in the daily mail, regarding the said prediction was false by a German scholar & the actual prediction was for something else to happen in 2012, but what it was that is going to happen in 2012, hasn't been translated & I cannot find the said article.

well nothing happening in the fishing department yet here, because I've been work, work, work, funny thing there is, you just don't realise how wrapped up in work you can get, that time flies, but saying that, this year has gone pretty damn fast has I've mentioned in previous blog posts, so before the older generation think it is them, no believe me time is really flying this year!.

Now mentioning Armageddon, I love this song, by John Denver, called: Leaving on a jet plane......

There is a true story to the above song about John Denver getting killed in a plane crash, bit of de ja vue there.

Saturday 15 December 2012

Some more from the garden.

Last of the tomatoes.
& the first batch of leeks.
I'll be taking the rest of the leeks out this weekend for next weeks stew pot, & very tasty they are.

Friday 14 December 2012

& finally.

I've figured out how to add smileys to my blog with the simple help from this site It's very easy to do just follow the said instructions & sorted :)

Had to share this one.

Just look at the smile on the German Shepherd, reminds me of my dog Jessie.

Thursday 13 December 2012

Ganglamb Style.

Caption this.

German Shepherd, Gangnam style :D

Last Month Of 2012.

This morning I woke to the temperature of  minus 4 & it's white over with a good ground frost, yesterday it were minus 3 but by 11.00am the frost had thawed, somehow I don't think it will today.

Re: Operation Arsehole update, it seems since I mentioned in the previous blog post about naming & shaming the local tow rags, (with addresses); the Police in the area have had a major purging operation on these low life scumbags, three of which are serving time in Glen Parva for Christmas, shame on them, the others however have mysteriously disappeared ! With no trace & the good thing is things have rapidly quietened down in the area.

So I've got a little bit of time on my hands, whilst waiting for a customers part, to finish off a job & I've decided to update the blog in the process of playing for time.

Last year we had the 11th day of the 11th month of the 11th year, this year we've just had yesterday the 12th day of the 12th month of the 12th year, at least we cannot have the 13th day of the (13th month) of the 13th year next year!.

Also another thing remembrance day was without any interruptions from the Muslim fraternity a quiet day, only because the big noises of the right wing groups had threatened the Muslim council of Great Britain, would be held firmly responseable for any poppy burning & chanting of British soldiers burning in hell.

Moving on, I've been, in my spare time digging out some photographs of the past & one particular photo came out in the bunch of pics reminding myself of my old German Shepherd Dog, Jessie, now unfortunately I had to have Jessie put down a few years ago because whilst she were going upstairs she had an heart attack & fell down the stairs rupturing her splean, which had then swollen out into her stomach.

But before that had happened over the years that dog was like my guardian angel, if I were in the garden, she had to be there & fishing, she loved going down the river & ponds, every Sunday morning at around 7.00am almost like clock work, every week she used to wake me up to take her for a walk down the river, that dog knew what day of the week it was.

Now Jessie also got into this habit of digging holes in the back garden, we are not talking small holes here, neither, anyway eventually I managed to stop her from doing this, by keeping her occupied with other things to wear her out, typical German Shepherd, but she was a great dog, & also the burglars steered clear of my house too, she let them know she was there.

One night this idiot broke in the house & he only managed to climb through the window, it were about 2oclock in the morning but Jessie had him there pinned to the sink unit below the window he had got through & she wouldn't let go, she were growling & snarling whilst holding this burglar there who were kicking & screaming at her, but she held him there, my dad at the time could not get her off of him, even when the police turned up that dog held him there, I eventually managed to get her to let go, even the police were dubious of her, I had to grab hold of her by the top & bottom of her mouth to make her let go & she drew blood on the tow rag who never came anywhere near since.

What a dog she were & here is a picture of her when she were about 5 years old stalking rabbits down the riverside tow path coming out of Stoke woods heading towards Radcliffe bend.

On the prowl.

I haven't had a dog since Jessie but I'm now contemplating having another German Shepherd very soon.

Resting on the sofa.

chyking out of the window.
& posing for the camera.
I always remember that one particular day I'd just got in from work at 14.30pm & I asked where the dog were because she used to wait at the front door for me coming home, but she were outside in the back garden & when I went to see her in the garden, she got hold of this fuck off great big black rat almost have the size of an adult cat & she were ragging it all over the garden & flinging it against the shed at first the rat was squealing & Jessie was growling & then I saw her fling it several feet up into the air, then it came down & landed hard on it's back which must of broke it because I heard it snap when it hit the ground with a big thud, killed it out right, eventually when I managed to make her let go, so I could dispose of the rat, there were blood all over the shed & at the time we didn't have a dryer we used the washing line & all these white sheets on the washing line all had streaks of rats blood all over them  I were dreading telling the person that had just not a few hours before washed them.

We never used to have any problems with the cats either, even they knew to steer clear, but thats a dogs life, eh?.

Right it's time to go find out where my customers part has got to.

Tuesday 4 December 2012

Operation Arsehole, Update.

You remember awhile back I blogged about one of the local tow rags causing trouble, it were back in the summer of 2011, about June time without going through the archives to be precise, well anyway  the update.
First the picture from Operation Arsehole.

Now the outcome.

Named & Shamed.

Bit lenient, don't you think? for someone who was using an off road bike on the Queens highway! With no road tax or a valid MOT & the offences in the above scanned document, whilst the countries motorists get penalised for lesser offences, such as faulty brake & headlight bulbs which are given an on the spot £30.00 fine & made to return to the nearest police station within 5 days of being stopped to prove they have had the defects rectified!

However it's a result, not a good result but it's sorted.
After the court case I made a complaint to the local authority, regarding the situation with Mccaffrey, they then made plans to evict, but Mccaffrey moved before the local authority got the chance.

Since the incident, things quietened down in the area for awhile, until the rest of Mccaffrey's cronies kicked up in gangs, I'll blog about them later with more details, to name & shame, Some of them are about 10 years old & do alot of running errands for Mccaffrey & other drug dealers & don't worry their addresses will be published too, no stones left unturned here.
Operation Arsehole is now in full swing with a zero tolerance policy & people such as myself have had enough of the local hooligans & this Political Correctness mumbo jumbo of you can't do this!, you can't do that! myopia from the law.

Signing off now till the next blogpost.

Saturday 27 October 2012

Garden update2.

Now summers over I've got some sorting out to do in the garden, recently I've been rebuilding my garden shed with pallet wood, because the old timber had seen better days, so that has taken up all of my spare time.
I've had some great crops considering it's been an awkward year weather wise & it's been along time since I'd used the back garden to grow veg in.
Got some nice tomatoes, some are still ripening & the other week when I got the rest of my radishes out, I got some really nice white radishes, (see picture below).

Very tasty they are, also got some nice leeks coming through & the rest of the garden needs weeding out & digging over, but the ground is wet through, to wet to rotorvate  otherwise I'd be on the case now.
Still gathering my materials for the new greenhouse, which is next on the agenda for next years tomatoes, man this year has gone fast.

Had some snow this morning when I got up at 08.30, brrrrr it were chilly, soon melted though.

We Will Remember Them !

Only 2 weeks to go & remembrance  Sunday will once again come around.

Monday 22 October 2012

Here we go again !

So i hear the MDL are planning to burn poppies again on the 11th Nov. I just hope the police this time will step in and arrest these idiots and throw the full force off the law and charge them with race hatred. Our troops deserve respect not this disgusting behaviour. They are entitled to there protest. But that should not include burning poppies, bibles etc. How would they like us burning their Koran. They should respect certain things. So lets hope this is not allowed to happen again as otherwise its time to ask question that is on most minds....
The above copied from the BNP's Facebook page.
If it does go ahead like last time !
See video below....
Then I'll publicly start burning the Koran, chanting, British Muslims burn in hell, burn, burn, burn in hell, & see if they like that ?
Obviously they won't like it, but lets see if they darest bring it on.
In the meantime we have to put up with this bunch of sick fucks, how very dare they !

& they say "Islam" is the religion of peace !......
For those of you who don't know what the "MDL" is, it stands for Muslim Defence League.

Other stuff & things.....

Yesterday for the first time ever I had an interesting video chat with a friend from America on Skype & this morning I received a phone call from another friend asking me to be his best man at his wedding next year, of cause I accepted.
I've never been a best man at a wedding before so this'll be an interesting task to perform & yes it's going to be a whistle n flute job. warts & all LOL. No I won't let my friend down because I'm the only one he can trust to do the job of best man & also he has been a damn good friend over the years & a fishing buddy too. OK I've got plenty of time to prepare the best mans speech for the big day which is going to be in December next year, so other than the speech to prepare I'll have to get in touch with my friends brother regarding stag night plans I cannot wait :D, now don't get me wrong weddings ain't my thing but, when it comes to friends & family you've gotta support them after all you may require their help someday !.

Onwards & upwards as they say, works been busy for me again with plenty of services, clutches & engine reconditioning work to occupy my time & also the back garden is doing well, getting plenty of radishes, had my second crop of spuds out last week which made some excellent potato wedges.
Still waiting on my tomatoes ripening OK they were planted later than everybody Else's & they are outside.
Just need to do a bit weeding & sort out the lettuces, got some gorgeous leeks coming through as well & next I'm contemplating planting a third crop of potatoes which I'll get for November.
So everything is nearly up to date in the garden & if ? & when it eventually stops raining I'll get around to building a cold frame & greenhouse.

Plans ? well I need to get some fishing done to get away from it all for a bit after everything else has acquired my invaluable time  because I've only been once this season & thats not like me.
This last bank holiday weekend I've been finishing of plastering my grandmothers kitchen & now it just needs painting so after that I'm gonna get my ass out on the river bank sharpish.

Wednesday 8 August 2012

Loverly sunshine again

Had some more radishes from the garden this afternoon & we've finally finished all the potatoes from the first crop.
What I like about growing my own veg is how tasty it is & also you know how fresh it is not like the stuff you buy from the supermarkets which could be nearly a month old by the time you've bought it & get to use it, you'd be surprised.

Anyway just had a nice salad; cheese & tomato with sliced smoked ham, spring onions, lettuce, cucumber & some of my radishes very tasty indeed. Now I'm gonna go wash it down with some Belgian beer & brown ale, I've got Chimay & La Chouffe @ 6, 7 & 8% trust me you won't drink many of those before you'd end up on yer back snoring for the night. Right off to water the garden again first before I get a taste for the booze.

Tuesday 7 August 2012

Garden update...

Been busy in the garden again, got my first crop of onions out & some radishes (French breakfast) & very tasty they are, getting some nice tomatoes coming through but still having problems with blight which means I'm having to keep removing leaves other than that they are OK.
My leeks are also doing well now I've pulled out the weeds from in between them & the second crop of potatoes are coming on great too.
I've even managed to build a storage box for my garden equipment. Next job is to build a cold frame & then a greenhouse (materials pending).

So yeah everythings going great at the moment, just gonna go & finish off tying back my tomatoes up their canes before watering.
Also I've got some lettuces coming through nicely, so I'll have to go get some slug pellets asap before the vast slug & snail population in my garden prep themselves for a big feast the little blighters.  Right off to finish off this afternoons bit of gardening.

Thursday 26 July 2012

Back garden...

Baking hot sunshine again today, been doing a bit in the garden this afternoon, some weeding between my onions & leeks first off then tying back my tomato plants up their canes.
Next project in the garden is to build a cold frame out of pallet wood & some old polycarbonate sheets, which I'm starting on tomorrow, then I'm going to start building a greenhouse for my tomatoes, who said gardening was easy ? Nah honestly I'm enjoying it & so far this season I've been given lots of inspirational advice from the guys down on the local allotments, whom have given me some spare tomato plants, onions, leeks & seed potatoes to get my garden started off this year (back in March).

So far this year I've had my first potato crop, just before the dreaded blight set in, cabbages, lettuce, spring onions & carrots, now my tomatoes are flowering, bit slow they are but they'll soon come around.
I'm growing two different types of tomatoes, moneymakers & beefsteak tomatoes.

Got another row of potatoes coming through & by the looks of things they'll be ready by the end of next month, the first crop of spuds had made some tasty Sunday roasts so far & I've still got plenty left.
By the way the weathers been it might turn out to be an Indian winter too, so there will be plenty more time to get a few more crops grown later on in the year.
Right now the suns moved away off the garden so it's watering time.

When I get chance I'll put some photo's on...

Underwater barbel pics....

Nice footage, more info. Don't forget to log in on facebook before you click the link.

Today I'm mostly listening to.....

Wednesday 25 July 2012

Yup!

PMSL....

Last nights session...

Must've spoke too soon about 4 local stretches not being fished for some time, I got down the river last night, 2 of the stretches of local river were loaded out with folks settling in for a session.
OK so I went further downstream to a secluded stretch that had not seen an angler, so far this season.

I settled down for the night in a swim of choice with a steep river bank & with 4ft high grass & nettles flattened down later, I tackled up, ground bait feeder & feed pellets were the choice of loose feed & hair rigged boilies for the hook bait.
Now this tactic has produced the goods on numerous occasions for me, but not last night, nope not a sniff, I blanked.

That nice looking coloured floodwater was pacey, it were running off too fast, has if all the sluice gates upstream were wide open & every bit of floating drift weed & leaves were coming through like there was no tomorrow & yet fish were rising on the surface all night long, strange me thinks, somethings not right.
You can only change your rig so many times & yeah it were a humid night, so after all the rig changing & constant re-baiting of the swim @ 0400hrs I gave up, called it a night, thinking to myself maybe night fishing's not the answer, who knows.

Time for some changing of tactics, not so much tackle wise but bait wise, could be the key solution, as an angler I'm always looking to improve the way I fish & coming from a match fishing background, I'm used to the old (ringing the changes) scenario & finding out what others are having success with, but on these occasions when you've got stretches of river to yourself, it's a case of finding out for yourself what works & what don't through putting theory into practise.

After all I've still got the buzz to get back on the river bank & I cannot wait to have another session soon.

Tuesday 24 July 2012

Looks good to me....

Just had a bank side recce, it's got three ft of coloured water on that's running off & well worth a good session IMO, So out comes the barbel gear for a session into the early hours & the good thing about it is that it looks like no one has been fishing any of the four local stretches for sometime, funnily enough there ain't no one on the bank this afternoon either so I'm just gonna water the garden then get down there.

Alas the sun is shining...

& I'm gagging for a session on the riverbank, had some nice spuds from the garden to go with my Sunday roast in fact I've got plenty left, I'd just got them out in time last weekend before the dreaded blight got to them, due to all the rainfall, now it's spread to my tomatoes which ain't to much of a problem as I just remove the leafs & they are only just flowering so they'll be late, got some radishes coming through & onions, also leaks & just waiting on the lettuce & carrots.

I went to my local B&Q store yesterday to get some more seeds for when these crops have grown so I can get some stew veg growing such as swedes, turnips & parsnips etc, etc & also because during the winter months I couldn't find mushrooms in the fields (probably due to all the immigrants we have) I'm gonna grow my own.

So yeah things are great at the moment, plenty of grafting & gardening & now it's time I got the rods out but first I need to have a bankside reccy to see how much water has flown under the bridge & what condition the rivers in.

Good race in Germany at the weekend, plenty of rain there to for the Hockenheim grand prix, next it's the Hungarian grand prix & hopefully McLaren do the do the 1-2, after Vettells cheating tactics last Sunday, well done Jenson Button on second place.
Off now for that reccy.

Thursday 21 June 2012

Yesssssss, through to the quarter finals..

We got damn lucky there, with Rooney back, what a scrappy game that were & we should have scored more goals to finish off the Ukraine, but still Michael Caines back with the Italian job on Sunday afternoon lol, bring it on.....

Saturday 16 June 2012

YEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS, what a game...

Of football that were last night, scrappy but England pulled through to win 3-2 against Sweden, who have now been sent packing for the long trip home.

Next game for England on Tuesday 19th against the Ukraine, bring it on....

Monday 28 May 2012

Watched Soccer Aid 2012, last night...

It were a good game, England beat the Rest Of The World 3-1, great to see celebrities having a laugh to, the likes of Paddy McGuiness &  Teddy Sherringham having it in for Gordon Ramsey & co all for charity, they managed to raise 4 million smackers, nice 1 & this was some goal to score....

Wednesday 16 May 2012

Unbelievable.....

Serie A - Maradona to sue Italy for £40 million - Yahoo! Eurosport

If that's the case then I'll sue Maradona for his hand of god that cost England a World Cup, lets see if he can get outta that 1, the cheatin bastard.

Tuesday 15 May 2012

Another song....

Well Done Guys...

On a great job rescuing all those fish trapped in that flood plain after the water returned back to the river, could of been worse had it not been for the Environment Agency who attended the scene & put the fish back in the river.

BBC link

Now that puts things into perspective, I'll never moan about the price of my fishing licence again.

Monday 14 May 2012

Well, it might aswell rain until September....

Been a wet month so far with all this rain, all because someone forecast a drought & hosepipe ban, pah somebody must've been having a giraffe somewhere, still it's done the world of good in the garden at the very least & there is only 1 more month to go before the glorious 16th comes around again, I've almost completed sorting out my gear ready for the new season in my spare time, just the rod holdall to sort out next & make sure my wheels on the good old trolley are intact.
Thinking whether to stick with previous tactics bait-wise or try out Richworth's new range, ( Xtracta barbel ) sounds a good bait so far from what I've heard of from the carp lads, but like everything else it's worth a trial of my own, if it works then great stuff if not then revert back to previous baits that did.
The one problem I've come across with my fishing over the years has been every time you get used to a new piece of tackle or bait that's doing the business for you, either the manufacturers of tackle or bait go & discontinue the product, it's damned annoying but that's the way things are.

Been back on the landscaping in between work on the spanners, still lots of work out there to be had & even managed to get down the river for a walk with my brothers dog for change, rivers up it's banks & coloured up nicely, if it manages to stay this way for the start of the new season we could been in for some great sport.
Not long now & it'll be time for Euro 2012 & the olympics too.

Right back to the landscaping, got some tree felling to do & some hedges to trim now that it ain't raining so much (-_-).

Sunday 1 April 2012

Well April is here...

Yes 4 months into 2012 & only 8 more to go, Easter next weekend, man time does fly when you get older, I should know I were told years ago by the older generation then lol.

At my grandmothers yesterday & had to watch Andre Rieu on the tv, after a nice Chinese takeaway, the concert he performed was roses from the south, not the best of his operas but weren't bad, plenty of Viennese waltzes & stuff, not my cup of tea but something worth watching when you need to relax & unwind, he is on Sky arts2 regular every Saturday afternoon, most are repeats & the ladies are nice too ;) Here is clip from YouTube.

Just had my Sunday roast, loved it pork n stuffin with apple sauce, roast spuds, Yorkshire pudding & mushrooms laced in aaah bisto.

Friday 2 March 2012

Todays Song...

England got unlucky on Wednesday night should've won that friendly, good game to watch though.
Just sorting my gear out now for Sundays session & about bloody time to, its been a fair old while since I got out on the bank & I cannot wait.
Just about finished decorating the house in my spare time only the front room left to do & then I'll be out in the garden, prepping it out for planting, gonna start it with spuds onions n radishes first now it's getting warmer.

So whatever your upto this weekend have a good'un....

Monday 20 February 2012

Still grafting...

I didn't get out fishing over the weekend because I had a load more work come my way & if things carry on the way it's going I'm gonna have to employ some staff of my own to keep up with the demand, has I don't want to lose the work or sub it out to somebody else.
I've had engine refurb jobs on, which I've been working on through to the early hours to get them done & dusted whilst working on service jobs throughout the daytime, only got the 1 day off last week & ended up working all weekend, I've also took on several MOT jobs for a trader, a cylinder head job & now a clutch job for a new customer, on the plus side I like being busy but boy do I need a break & in the mean time I'm also looking at new premises to work from, still working mobile from time to time as well.

Also this morning I woke up with the dreaded man flu to top it all off, still ya gotta keep going, I don't let it beat me, crack on regardless, now I'm just off back out now to sort out another job regarding a bust starter motor.

Thursday 16 February 2012

At last

Now the big rush of grafting has slowed right down, its time to get the rods out, man I've been aching to get out on the bank for some time, but have to take the work while it's going so that's the way it is, taken the rest of the week off now so after a sort out at home I'll be getting out on the bank shortly, barbel, chub et al here I come, but first a good old reccy mission is required bankside to find out what the river conditions have got in store for me.

I know Friday & Saturday have rain forecast in the weather reports & sure that snow melt will have made it's impact on the river but it's still worth a shot IMHO, so see how goes & the nights are drawing out too.

Blimey how fast does time really go? in 2 weeks time it'll be March already & 3 months into 2012 it's like the older you get the more time steps up a gear.

Sunday 5 February 2012

It's snow joke....

Well bang went my plans for a session this week instead I've took over a grand in cash selling car batteries, bulbs, wipers & anti-freeze, jeez it's been an hectic weekend & all thanks to 3 inches of snow, looks like the week ahead is going to be busy as well, I cannot wait but an urge to get on the river bank is niggling away at me so I'm considering booking a day of in the week, we shall see how it goes, man I couldn't believe I've took well over 4 grand this week alone, that's good going & I'll bet the likes of the RAC & the AA have been rushed of their feet all weekend too.

Had a look in on facebook this afternoon at some of the pics of the snow, had to laugh at some of them like this'un 3 to push a panda car cos it'd got no traction.

Pushing the law
Well it happens to them too ! & on my way home from work this afternoon a couple of streets away from home on the new housing estate I walk through that used to be the old paper factory the kids had got some talent there building  snowmen & igloos, I did not bother to take any pics though as I was gagging to tuck into my Sunday roast & I enjoyed that too, now just washing it down with some carlsberg.

Tuesday 31 January 2012

So lets get things back to normal...

Alas the central heatings sorted, got some work on & the spate of bad luck has ran out, well almost I can tell ya it comes in threes but not this time it were four because, after the central heating packing up & i'd ran outta work & lost me phone, the bloody electric kettle decided to give up the ghost on me, now thats some run of bad luck, it were almost as if i'd been cursed by the gypsies or something of that kind.

Now there's a bit cold weather business has picked right up, batteries, bulbs & wipers, not selling much antifreeze or screen wash or de-icer yet but it'll come around.
We've had a bit of a snow shower this morning, hoping to get some more & it settles, then business will boom.

Planning a session on the river bank this weekend, not sure whether to have a go for barbel or dead bait for pike yet it's gonna be down to the weather & or if there is any flood water on the river.
So a bank side reccy is a must, always best to go find out for yourself rather than ask others, at least you know where you stand.

Right off to get straightened up at home now.

Last night...

I watched two films on the box, the 1st one escape to victory, now that was some game of football !

The 2nd, escape from Sobibor, now that was depressing, man I'll never watch another film about concentration camps in the 2nd world war, it weren't as explicit has you can imagine what really happened there, but enough to explain how it happened & how those Jewish people were treated by the Nazis, very disturbing.

Anyway I'll finish here with this post because I've got some moving about to do ready for the central heating contractor in the morning.

Well things are starting to get better already...

Having not really had a good start this month things are starting to improve, a few weeks ago I'd dropped my mobile phone out of my pocket whilst looking at an oil leak on a customers car outside his shop, the phone was picked up by another customer who phoned half of England with my credit but returned it a few days after, then work dropped to an appalling level to almost non existent I then ended up with the dreaded man flu, they say so I've been told bad luck always comes in threes ! Well it certainly has for me, but things are getting better, I've managed to get my driveway & path at the rear of my house concreted at last, I've started laying slabs in the shed base which is gonna be my workshop when completed & I've finally got round to having the central heating replaced for next week by a local company this time because it's passed it's life of use & I'm sick & tired of having to keep replacing the water pump every year which every time it packs up the damn thing keeps tripping the electricity mains out.
The guy came out from the central heating company this morning to measure up all the radiators in every room & work out what other materials were required including the new combi boiler & gas fire that are going to be replaced has part of the job, gave us the quote & estimated about a days work, so not doing bad here for the last couple of years I've had the roof redone new windows & doors, new kitchen & bathroom completed & I've also got round to redoing my back garden where I was going to turf it but changed my mind & decided this next spring I going to start growing my own vegetables in again like my father did when I were a kid.

I don't think gardening is hard work, it's just time consuming, I've got it dug over last year before the first frosts & raked level, there were plenty of lob worms in it I can tell you, that's a good sign & also I've built a new compost bin out of some old sheets of polycarbonate from an old conservatory roof, that'll last a fair few years.
Next job in the garden is to build a greenhouse, I've decided against a glass one because of neighbours kids with footballs etc, etc. Will probably go down the road of polycarbonate again which is quite strong material & build the frame for this greenhouse out of timber.
Now I'm just deciding whether to use manure or leaf mulch in this prepped patch of garden, so not really a deal left to do & see how it goes.
Most of the veg I'll be growing will be spuds, leeks, onions & radish along with carrots lettuce, cabbages & cauliflower.
The tomatoes in the greenhouse when it's built & go from there.

I was at one time going to have my own pond but unfortunately there isn't going to be enough room for one so I may consider in the future another water feature of some kind & another thing I've also done with the garden is put a border along the back fence to put some plants in where the old privet hedge was to tidy it up a bit.

So now all I need to do is get some fishing done : )

New year & a slow start with work.

First of all its a bit late but happy new year, works been steady but still coming through, not much happening with the fishing at the moment but I'll get there.
I've had a few clutch & head gasket jobs on in between the usual batteries, bulbs & wiper blades, the odd tyre job & wheel balancing work, but not so many services as I normally get so things might change by next month.
speaking of the new year I've never been one to make resolutions, well apart from one not to make any that way i don't break them right ! well this year I've made one but i won't say what because i know I'll break it by doing so.

Forum world still the same !!! lol best off out of it from my point of view, is it really worth arguing the toss over a fish ? Now don't get me wrong there is a time & a place to make a stance but on these occasions it ain't right when a few boil over pretence & spit out the dummy over otters, eels & barbel, where exactly are they making their points about said situation or more to the point what exactly is the point ?

Blimey it's almost February already, not long then before the annual closure of the coarse season, that'll cause some mayhem on the forums.
Hope you enjoyed your Christmas mine was well spent with family & friends having a good old catch up with those I'd not saw for awhile had a few drinks too & really enjoyed myself, must keep in touch with people more often than not at all.
My grandmother didn't  feel like going to any parties so the parties came to her lol, bless her she's 82 & widowed but made the most of it at the very least, still trying to get up there for a dance she were lmao.
