Now summers over I've got some sorting out to do in the garden, recently I've been rebuilding my garden shed with pallet wood, because the old timber had seen better days, so that has taken up all of my spare time.
I've had some great crops considering it's been an awkward year weather wise & it's been along time since I'd used the back garden to grow veg in.
Got some nice tomatoes, some are still ripening & the other week when I got the rest of my radishes out, I got some really nice white radishes, (see picture below).
Very tasty they are, also got some nice leeks coming through & the rest of the garden needs weeding out & digging over, but the ground is wet through, to wet to rotorvate otherwise I'd be on the case now.
Still gathering my materials for the new greenhouse, which is next on the agenda for next years tomatoes, man this year has gone fast.
Had some snow this morning when I got up at 08.30, brrrrr it were chilly, soon melted though.

Here we go again !
So i hear the MDL are planning to burn poppies again on the 11th Nov. I just hope the police this time will step in and arrest these idiots and throw the full force off the law and charge them with race hatred. Our troops deserve respect not this disgusting behaviour. They are entitled to there protest. But that should not include burning poppies, bibles etc. How would they like us burning their Koran. They should respect certain things. So lets hope this is not allowed to happen again as otherwise its time to ask question that is on most minds....
The above copied from the BNP's Facebook page.
If it does go ahead like last time !
See video below....
Then I'll publicly start burning the Koran, chanting, British Muslims burn in hell, burn, burn, burn in hell, & see if they like that ?
Obviously they won't like it, but lets see if they darest bring it on.
In the meantime we have to put up with this bunch of sick fucks, how very dare they !
For those of you who don't know what the "MDL" is, it stands for Muslim Defence League.

Other stuff & things.....
Yesterday for the first time ever I had an interesting video chat with a friend from America on Skype & this morning I received a phone call from another friend asking me to be his best man at his wedding next year, of cause I accepted.
I've never been a best man at a wedding before so this'll be an interesting task to perform & yes it's going to be a whistle n flute job. warts & all LOL. No I won't let my friend down because I'm the only one he can trust to do the job of best man & also he has been a damn good friend over the years & a fishing buddy too. OK I've got plenty of time to prepare the best mans speech for the big day which is going to be in December next year, so other than the speech to prepare I'll have to get in touch with my friends brother regarding stag night plans I cannot wait :D, now don't get me wrong weddings ain't my thing but, when it comes to friends & family you've gotta support them after all you may require their help someday !.
Onwards & upwards as they say, works been busy for me again with plenty of services, clutches & engine reconditioning work to occupy my time & also the back garden is doing well, getting plenty of radishes, had my second crop of spuds out last week which made some excellent potato wedges.
Still waiting on my tomatoes ripening OK they were planted later than everybody Else's & they are outside.
Just need to do a bit weeding & sort out the lettuces, got some gorgeous leeks coming through as well & next I'm contemplating planting a third crop of potatoes which I'll get for November.
So everything is nearly up to date in the garden & if ? & when it eventually stops raining I'll get around to building a cold frame & greenhouse.
Plans ? well I need to get some fishing done to get away from it all for a bit after everything else has acquired my invaluable time because I've only been once this season & thats not like me.
This last bank holiday weekend I've been finishing of plastering my grandmothers kitchen & now it just needs painting so after that I'm gonna get my ass out on the river bank sharpish.

Loverly sunshine again
Had some more radishes from the garden this afternoon & we've finally finished all the potatoes from the first crop.
What I like about growing my own veg is how tasty it is & also you know how fresh it is not like the stuff you buy from the supermarkets which could be nearly a month old by the time you've bought it & get to use it, you'd be surprised.
Anyway just had a nice salad; cheese & tomato with sliced smoked ham, spring onions, lettuce, cucumber & some of my radishes very tasty indeed. Now I'm gonna go wash it down with some Belgian beer & brown ale, I've got Chimay & La Chouffe @ 6, 7 & 8% trust me you won't drink many of those before you'd end up on yer back snoring for the night. Right off to water the garden again first before I get a taste for the booze.

Garden update...
Been busy in the garden again, got my first crop of onions out & some radishes (French breakfast) & very tasty they are, getting some nice tomatoes coming through but still having problems with blight which means I'm having to keep removing leaves other than that they are OK.
My leeks are also doing well now I've pulled out the weeds from in between them & the second crop of potatoes are coming on great too.
I've even managed to build a storage box for my garden equipment. Next job is to build a cold frame & then a greenhouse (materials pending).
So yeah everythings going great at the moment, just gonna go & finish off tying back my tomatoes up their canes before watering.
Also I've got some lettuces coming through nicely, so I'll have to go get some slug pellets asap before the vast slug & snail population in my garden prep themselves for a big feast the little blighters. Right off to finish off this afternoons bit of gardening.

Back garden...
Baking hot sunshine again today, been doing a bit in the garden this afternoon, some weeding between my onions & leeks first off then tying back my tomato plants up their canes.
Next project in the garden is to build a cold frame out of pallet wood & some old polycarbonate sheets, which I'm starting on tomorrow, then I'm going to start building a greenhouse for my tomatoes, who said gardening was easy ? Nah honestly I'm enjoying it & so far this season I've been given lots of inspirational advice from the guys down on the local allotments, whom have given me some spare tomato plants, onions, leeks & seed potatoes to get my garden started off this year (back in March).
So far this year I've had my first potato crop, just before the dreaded blight set in, cabbages, lettuce, spring onions & carrots, now my tomatoes are flowering, bit slow they are but they'll soon come around.
I'm growing two different types of tomatoes, moneymakers & beefsteak tomatoes.
Got another row of potatoes coming through & by the looks of things they'll be ready by the end of next month, the first crop of spuds had made some tasty Sunday roasts so far & I've still got plenty left.
By the way the weathers been it might turn out to be an Indian winter too, so there will be plenty more time to get a few more crops grown later on in the year.
Right now the suns moved away off the garden so it's watering time.
When I get chance I'll put some photo's on...

Last nights session...
Must've spoke too soon about 4 local stretches not being fished for some time, I got down the river last night, 2 of the stretches of local river were loaded out with folks settling in for a session.
OK so I went further downstream to a secluded stretch that had not seen an angler, so far this season.
I settled down for the night in a swim of choice with a steep river bank & with 4ft high grass & nettles flattened down later, I tackled up, ground bait feeder & feed pellets were the choice of loose feed & hair rigged boilies for the hook bait.
Now this tactic has produced the goods on numerous occasions for me, but not last night, nope not a sniff, I blanked.
That nice looking coloured floodwater was pacey, it were running off too fast, has if all the sluice gates upstream were wide open & every bit of floating drift weed & leaves were coming through like there was no tomorrow & yet fish were rising on the surface all night long, strange me thinks, somethings not right.
You can only change your rig so many times & yeah it were a humid night, so after all the rig changing & constant re-baiting of the swim @ 0400hrs I gave up, called it a night, thinking to myself maybe night fishing's not the answer, who knows.
Time for some changing of tactics, not so much tackle wise but bait wise, could be the key solution, as an angler I'm always looking to improve the way I fish & coming from a match fishing background, I'm used to the old (ringing the changes) scenario & finding out what others are having success with, but on these occasions when you've got stretches of river to yourself, it's a case of finding out for yourself what works & what don't through putting theory into practise.
After all I've still got the buzz to get back on the river bank & I cannot wait to have another session soon.

Looks good to me....
Just had a bank side recce, it's got three ft of coloured water on that's running off & well worth a good session IMO, So out comes the barbel gear for a session into the early hours & the good thing about it is that it looks like no one has been fishing any of the four local stretches for sometime, funnily enough there ain't no one on the bank this afternoon either so I'm just gonna water the garden then get down there.
Alas the sun is shining...
& I'm gagging for a session on the riverbank, had some nice spuds from the garden to go with my Sunday roast in fact I've got plenty left, I'd just got them out in time last weekend before the dreaded blight got to them, due to all the rainfall, now it's spread to my tomatoes which ain't to much of a problem as I just remove the leafs & they are only just flowering so they'll be late, got some radishes coming through & onions, also leaks & just waiting on the lettuce & carrots.
I went to my local B&Q store yesterday to get some more seeds for when these crops have grown so I can get some stew veg growing such as swedes, turnips & parsnips etc, etc & also because during the winter months I couldn't find mushrooms in the fields (probably due to all the immigrants we have) I'm gonna grow my own.
So yeah things are great at the moment, plenty of grafting & gardening & now it's time I got the rods out but first I need to have a bankside reccy to see how much water has flown under the bridge & what condition the rivers in.
Good race in Germany at the weekend, plenty of rain there to for the Hockenheim grand prix, next it's the Hungarian grand prix & hopefully McLaren do the do the 1-2, after Vettells cheating tactics last Sunday, well done Jenson Button on second place.
Off now for that reccy.
